Jamelia Gay Coaching was created to provide marginalized communities with the awareness, foundation, and tools to take up space and the confidence to do so unapologetically.
The word marginalized refers to persons or groups treated as insignificant or peripheral. Society has told you that you're not the focus, your struggles are not the focus, and what you have to offer is not the focus. As a result, you've begun believing that you belong on the outside. You may also feel like you constantly exist on the outskirts of mental wellness, social circles, and academic and professional success.
As a black woman who learned I have ADHD in my adulthood, I've experienced the isolation that comes with uniqueness and the desire to fit in when your mission is to stand out.
Neurodivergent and BIPOC communities are two grossly overlooked communities that I'm proudly a part of. I have an intimate understanding of intersecting identities, enabling me to show up authentically for adults who have experienced trying to fit in with outstanding abilities. If you are a member of the BIPOC community, neurodivergent community or both, I will show up for you and provide you with a roadmap to show up for yourself.
If you're ready to leave the peripheral and step into focus, then Jamelia Gay Coaching is for you.
Why I Started
Hi, I'm Jamelia. I began Coaching because it resonated with me. As a woman who realized I matched an ADHD profile in my adulthood, I was inspired to motivate, empower and support other adults who are seeking clarity and strategies for their daily experiences. I also provide services to individuals, couples, and families that have been experiencing an influx of ADHD matching traits since the abrupt onslaught of the Covid-19 pandemic.
I have studied and worked with a variety of neurodiversities, but as I furthered my research and completed my training, all I could think was "𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗲!" With that awareness, as I embodied the client experience, I felt a weight lift off my shoulders. I was now able to identify my struggle! I put a name on it and suddenly, a world of resources, opportunities, and understanding opened up to me.
𝗡𝗼 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗲𝗹𝘀, but knowing... knowing is the first step, and once I knew, I never looked back! I walked unapologetically towards my Purpose of helping others master their own impulses, self-awareness, and self-development.
I am here to guide you through the process of self-exploration and to the creation of proactive strategies, instead of drowning in reactive waves of emotion.
Whether you are diagnosed with ADHD, fit an ADHD profile, or have been experiencing one or more components of Executive Functioning, I will increase your understanding, work with you to co-create active and achievable goals, and help you begin living your life On Purpose!
Are you having a hard time completing tasks, concentrating and coping with stress?
ADHD can compromise your ability to pay your bills on time, complete assignments, communicate effectively, engage socially, follow through on plans, regulate emotions, and more. These challenges can become compounding and may negatively impact familial, romantic, business, and peer relationships. ADHD may also negatively affect your perception of self... but here's the good news - it doesn't have to! Coaching can help you understand the ways ADHD can affect you and your loved ones. ADHD Coaching also provides support strategies to non-ADHDers living and working with an individual with ADHD or Executive Function development needs. Information aids transformation!
